Online Flute Lessons

Hi, I’m so glad you’re here. Before you apply, please take a few minutes to read through this whole page. It covers everything you need to know about how lessons work with me, and applying means you’ve read and agreed to it all. Thanks in advance for taking the time; it really does make things smoother for both of us.

Once you’ve read through everything, click the “I understand and agree” button at the bottom of this page. That’ll unlock both the pricing request form and the application form, right there at the bottom. Just want pricing first? You’re welcome to start there. Otherwise, pricing is shared once your application is accepted.

I only accept new students through the application form, so when you’re ready, scroll down, click agree, and let’s get started.

A little about how I teach

  • I teach flute (and friends). Flute is my focus, with a bit of piccolo, alto flute, and bass flute mixed in. I also love weaving in music theory and history along the way.
  • I work best with students who have some flute experience already, at least a year of playing. Complete beginners really benefit from in-person, hands-on guidance to build those first foundations, so I’m not the right fit for a first-ever flute teacher.
  • My studio is for adults, 18 and up: working professionals, retirees, university students. This is genuinely the population I teach best, and it shapes everything about how I structure lessons.
  • Lessons run 1 hour, every 2 or 4 weeks (about 1 to 2 lessons a month). Most of my students are self-driven between our sessions, and I’ve found this rhythm gives that independent practice time to breathe.
  • Prices and policies may evolve over time, and I reserve the right to decline or discontinue lessons if it’s ever not the right fit.

How payment works

I invoice through PayPal in batches of 4 lesson-hours at a time.

  • Payment is due before we begin lessons; it helps us both stay committed to showing up.
  • As we go, I subtract from your paid hours until it’s time to renew for another batch of 4.
  • Lessons begin once payment has processed (usually quick, but please allow up to 21 days just in case).
  • All sales are final, no refunds.

A few logistics

  • You call me at our scheduled time.
  • If a lesson is missed without notice, that hour isn’t credited back.
  • I teach exactly the scheduled hour. If you join late, we still end on time and the full hour is charged. If I happen to run over, that extra time is on me, no charge.
  • Need to reschedule? Just give me 24 hours’ notice, and we’ll find a new time. Changes made with less notice mean that hour isn’t credited back.
  • Life happens. In a true emergency, reach out as soon as you can and I’ll credit that hour back to you.

Tip: A quick confirmation email 24 hours ahead is always welcome, just to make sure we’re both on for our lesson.

Want to try a single lesson first?

Since online lessons are still newer territory for a lot of folks, I offer a one-time, 1-hour trial lesson for an extra $5 USD.

  • Loved it? Continue on with the standard 4-hour batch plan above.
  • Not for you? No hard feelings, and no further fees owed.
  • The same logistics rules apply (payment up front, 24-hour reschedule notice, emergency credit, no refunds), with one difference: a missed or late-cancelled trial isn’t rescheduled, since it’s a one-time offer.
  • This trial is entirely optional; it’s just here for anyone who wants to dip a toe in before committing to a full batch.

How we’ll meet: Google Meet

Right now, all lessons happen over Google Meet. I’ll send a link before our first lesson, and we’ll reuse that same link for every session after.

One important note: please don’t call my Google account outside of our scheduled lesson times. This is one boundary I hold firmly, and calls outside our scheduled time may result in ending our lessons together altogether, with no credit for time paid but not taught.

Ready to apply?

If this all feels like a good fit, I’d love to hear from you. Click “I understand and agree” below to unlock the application form, then fill it out and let’s get started; it helps make sure we’re on the same page from day one.

(A completed application doesn’t guarantee a spot, but I read every one!)

And just a friendly wink: “I understand and agree” means you actually read all of the above, not just scrolled real fast and hoped for the best. 😊

Prices and policies are subject to change. JustAnotherFlutist reserves the right to decline or discontinue lessons at any time.
