Yay, another "Practice with Me" video! I feel like these videos give me quite a bit of freedom for improvisation and not having to think too hard about what to say--because all I have to do is explain what I'm doing and why I'm doing it! Plus I can be in 100% pyjamas and no makeup. So many wins!
I really feel that these videos are just as beneficial for you guys as it is for me. Not only do I force myself to listen to my playing from a third person point of view (when editing the footage), simply going through the motions of making videos in this series keeps me on the ground. I feel that when we're in the practice room, we are faced with our weaknesses and tasked with challenge of overcoming those weaknesses. We all feel the same in the practice room:
We can always be better. There's always room for improvement. There is no perfect, but we strive for it anyway.
I hope that through these videos, you guys can see that it's not just mindless drilling--it's a lot of research, analysis, application of research and analysis, and creativity that helps you develop your own interpretation of the music and different ways to practice it.
So with that said, happy practicing! ;)
