Oh boy, this video is a long time coming. I've noticed that you guys have been asking about teaching tips for a while now, and a few questions stood out to me because they were about keeping yourselves organized!
Setting your studio up is no easy task, but it's well worth all the time and energy spent on research and setting up your own rules (provided that you actually like being a teacher, haha!). I spent about a month crafting my online lessons page that you see here on this website, tweaking it as I thought of more scenarios I might face and thinking of ways to make things easier for my students, my students' parents, and myself.
Probably the hardest part about taking the time to set all this up is the fact that it takes so much time. You're not initially paid by anyone to set up rules, invoices, payment plans, etc, so it's 100% an investment on your part as the teacher. Yes, it is a risk, and I'm not going to sugar coat it. On the one hand, you're doing all this work but not getting paid yet, but on the other hand, if you don't put in all this work, you will undoubtedly run into a lot of trouble in the future.
And since I've put so much time and energy into this, why not share my hard work so you guys can benefit from it? My belief is that all my students and subscribers should surpass me in skill both as performer and teacher some day. That's how the human race evolves and develops! So take what I've learned and run with it! ;)
Oh, and yes, I have to be transparent and mention that my boyfriend works for OneNote. But even though he works on it, I really, honestly live on OneNote. ALL of my work is on there. It's kind of scary...
