On the day I was expecting the flutes, I missed the delivery by half an hour, as I had been out to run some errands. The next day, I ended up waiting half a day while it was sitting in a new pickup location nearby. The staff there had forgotten to scan it as "received" and didn't realize their mistake until I called in to ask if they had received it yet. Luckily, they were really sweet and owned up to their mistake, so I couldn't get mad at that.
Then on the day of filming, the lighting went crazy. The sun was coming in and out of the clouds. Most of the footage ended up looking way too dark, so I had to colour correct the entire video as best as I could. There were clips where the sun moved in or out of clouds where I couldn't make a jump cut, so that complicated things a little.
But in the end, I made it work.
The flutes themselves were such a joy to work with. Beautiful craftsmanship, designed to project like crazy. It made me think of Sankyo performers I'd seen online. Getting to know these flutes made those performances and the way they played make so much sense!
