As it happened, I was travelling to San Francisco for familial obligations when I was editing this video. I was relying on my uncle's WiFi to remote into my desktop computer at home in Seattle (thank God for my boyfriend Jon. He taught me how to use Chrome Remote Desktop!), when suddenly--poop! His internet suddenly died.
I figured it wasn't too big of a deal if I had to delay the release of this week's video if I wasn't able to finish editing the video on Friday evening. No biggie, I could just send out a quick note to you guys on my social media to let you know.
But my uncle and aunt? They'd be left with no internet with absolutely no solution as to why it wasn't working. Everything was plugged in properly.
After many unpluggings and pluggings back in and three calls to their internet provider, we finally figured out that their new modem required them to set up a new WiFi name and password, even though they had connected a router to the modem. The new modem had the ability to broadcast it's own WiFi signals (which I'm using right now to write this!). As soon as we did this, everything worked!
Even though it took about an hour of troubleshooting to figure it out, I'm so glad I was there to help out. Sure, I might be going to sleep way later than planned, but it's better than having no internet! Gotta always look on the bright side of things. :)
