I LOVE IT.
Teaching gives me so much energy. My dream is the be able to build my studio to such an extent that I am teaching at least 3-5 hours every week day. Oh gosh, if that happens one day, I will just EXPLODE with so much energy!!
There's just something so magical about teaching students and watching them accomplish new feats, reach huge goals, and overcome crazy obstacles. I really feel like I'm making a difference in this classical music world that a lot of people say is dying.
The classical music world won't die if you teach your students to be better than you! They and their students and their students' students will keep developing the music world long after your time as a teacher. That's how you evolve!
That being said, this video covers the more practical side of what it takes to keep the studio chugging along. Sure, you can be organized. Sure, you can have strict policies. Sure, you can have amazing credentials. But if you don't take the time and energy to really figure out how to build mutual respect, understand how to deal with life's curveballs, and discover how each student likes to be uniquely taught, then, well... you're not gonna go anywhere.
I hope this video was helpful to you guys! Let me know what you think. :) <3
