Guys, this was a SUPER fun video. It was one of the videos that we only had a vague idea of what we wanted to do--we knew we wanted to show you guys FCNY's new sheet music website and that I personally wanted to buy some things from there... so the best idea I had was just to take you guys shopping with me! I honestly had no idea what I was walking into when making this video, and it actually turned out WAY better than I ever anticipated!
I'm getting a lot more used to figuring out how to use OBS to record what I'm doing on the screen, so hurray for being comfortable! :D
Happy shopping, everyone, and have an awesome New Year!

While on one of my recent walks, it occurred to me that my not acknowledging the festive times during the year is rather off-putting and kind of arrogant. Sure, it's not Christmas all year round, but who actually cares?? Let's just have some fun!!
I absolutely love Christmas music. Lately, I've just been putting on random Christmas stations using Google Play while I've been driving, and oh my gosh... I just feel so happy and festive! I wanted to share that happiness with you guys. :)
I'm finally getting into the groove of setting up my lights without it feeling like a chore! It's really gratifying to edit a video that's actually [mostly] well lit. Probably the most difficult thing to learn were the manual camera settings to go along with the lights, but I'm getting there!
I was supposed to finish editing this video last night, but the power went out!! It even made me late for rehearsal because my boyfriend had to help me manually open the garage door. Crazy wind storm last night here in Seattle. When I got home, there was nothing to do except play some video games on our phones and Switch and get ready for bed. Thankfully, the power came back on sometime in the middle of the night, so I was able to get up early (6am!) to finish the video. Whew!! It's 7:45am as I type this, so I'm cutting it close!
Hope you guys are having a fantastic weekend, see you next week!
LOOKIE! NEW LENS!! I LOVE this setup!!
I did accidentally set the exposure too low, so that had to be edited in post. I also bought a 15-ft USB cable to connect my camera to my laptop--that's the ONLY way I could set the focus on myself from so far away! The camera was sitting approximately eight feet away from me!! Basically right against the opposite corner of my room.
I definitely need to figure out how I best to record the audio. I'm not totally in love with the slight echo due to the microphone being so much further away from me. I'm playing with the idea of always using my condenser microphone, but setting that up every week can take up a lot of valuable time. Currently looking into a lapel microphone... Maybe next year's Black Friday purchase? XD
On to better and better videos! Hope you guys are having an awesome weekend. :)
I found this video REALLY hard to start filming. I knew what I wanted to talk about... but just how DO you introduce such a topic? I stammered a lot in the introduction--so much so that I decided to delete it all and just jump straight into story time. After all, you guys aren't here for fancy introductions. You're here to hear what you already read in the title.
I did set up my lighting for this video because it's just way more reliable than the sun coming in and out of the clouds here in Seattle. I think I ironically spent less time filming with my lights than fiddling with the white balance on my camera, haha! I also experimented with hooking up my laptop with a USB cable to my camera and using the software that comes with the camera to control the camera from my laptop. Took quite a bit of squinting (because I didn't have my glasses on), but this allowed me to set the camera further away from me than usual while still being able to focus the camera on my face. It worked so well that I promptly ordered a much longer cable so I can have the laptop even closer to me. Woot woot!
Black Friday yielded some great deals for video making... so look out for that next time. ;) I'm so excited, and I hope the quality of my videos keeps going up! :D
See ya next week!
