Though it might not be apparent, this video was actually filmed just before I filmed the intro and outro to the Seattle Flute Festival video. This was by far much more post-production-heavy and thus very painstaking to edit (Each "I Teach Mom How to Play the Flute" video takes about 15-20 hours to edit), as we always go into these videos with little to no preparation. :P
We ended up with 50 minutes of raw footage, which is typical for a completely improvised shoot. We ended up chatting a lot in this one, and I was so sorry to cut the footage that I decided to at least haphazardly throw all the chatty scenes together into a deleted scenes video that I have uploaded onto my casual vlog channel (JustAnotherVlaugist).
I cut awesome chatty footage like this because whether or not I like it, chatty footage tends to bog down the flow of a video. I had to keep in mind that this video is about teaching Mom how to play the flute, not about why we encourage students to go to classical concerts to learn how to carry themselves on stage. I am personally a behind-the-scenes junkie, so deleted scenes, bloopers, interviews, and documentaries are my favourite things to watch. Case in point, I have the behind-the-scenes of The Lord of the Rings memorized; in fact, I know the behind-the-scenes far better than both the extended movies and the books. So this deleted scenes video is my little gift to the behind-the-scenes junkies in my subscriber base. Hope you guys enjoy this one and glean a little insight into what is going on in our minds and how my mom and I relate to each other. :)
